How to Poop on Dook’s Parade

I was working out this morning and talking to a trainer who’s a huge college basketball guy (he is both huge and a college basketball guy). He played up here in the east and so he’s a big east nut and a little biased to say the least, but he knows his stuff. I asked him innocuously if Texas had a chance to win today. He just laughed for what I thought was a little too long and asked, “Is Abrams going to make his shots?”
So just like every basketball fan with a brain I know that if Texas is going to win any games Abrams has to play well.
But a couple other things have to happen as well.
To start with Barnes needs to have a worthy gameplan. I don’t know the X’s and O’s like I should, so I won’t hazard a guess as to what it should be, but the last time we played Duke we looked lost. It was like we were blinded by the whiteness of Duke’s rotation and never expected JJ Reddick to shoot from so far away and didn’t even know that when you shot from that far out it was worth three points. It was like we had no idea in general what was going on. That can’t happen tonight.
The other thing that needs to happen is Gary Johnson needs to step up and play like a man against Singler. I trust in Dexy to get it done when he’s in there, but he can’t play all 40 minutes and we can’t let them burn us inside as well when they are so strong on the outside.
So I don’t expect us to win tonight, but as it gets nearer and nearer I start to like our chances more and more because I’m a sucker like that.
